Sioux Center Health is recognizing Brooke Schroeder, BSN, RN, CMSRN, after she officially earned her Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse credential through the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board.
Schroeder completed the certification exam on November 20th, marking a significant milestone in her nursing career and reinforcing her focus on high-quality, patient-centered care.
Originally graduating from South Dakota State University in 2016, Schroeder began her career in Sioux Falls, working in specialized areas including oncology and transplant care. She says that experience continues to shape her work in a smaller hospital setting.
Schroeder joined Sioux Center Health in 2018 and has since worked across multiple areas, including medical-surgical, emergency, obstetrics, and acute care. Her broad background led to her selection as a resource nurse and later into education and leadership roles.
Now serving as Med-Surg Coordinator, Schroeder oversees staff training, education, and policy coordination, ensuring nurses are prepared for a wide range of clinical situations. She says the certification will directly strengthen how she approaches staff training.
Schroeder says the decision to pursue the CMSRN credential had been a long-term goal, and timing played a role.
Hospital leaders say Schroeder’s certification not only sharpens her own clinical skills but also strengthens the entire medical-surgical team through leadership, education, and example.
