Boyden Woman Injured in Highway 18 Crash

A Boyden woman was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18 near Boyden Saturday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened around 12:55 p.m., about a quarter-mile west of Kiwi Avenue. Troopers say 76-year-old Doris Iwen of Boyden was driving a 2020 Hyundai westbound on Highway 18 when she lost control on the snow-covered roadway. Her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the rear of an eastbound 2018 Dodge driven by 21-year-old Jacie Sudbeck of Sheldon.

The Boyden Ambulance transported Iwen to Sanford Sheldon Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Damage to Iwen’s Hyundai was estimated at $3,000. Sudbeck’s Dodge sustained about $5,000 in damage.

Troopers cited Iwen for failure to maintain control.
