County road B40 from Kinsey Elementary School in Sioux Center to K64, the “Orange City Blacktop,” will undergo construction this summer. According to officials, the road will be closed to through traffic from May 30 through August. Only traffic traveling to and from properties along the closed route will be allowed in the construction area, however access will remain for Sioux Center Health and Sandy Hollow.
For most of the five-and-a-half mile construction project, the concrete will be laid on top of the existing asphalt, but the section in eastern Sioux Center, by Kinsey Elementary School, will be milled down before the overlay to facilitate driveway connections.
Signs will be placed to direct traffic around the project.
Sioux County officials also say a three-mile stretch of K42 near Siouxland Energy Cooperative west of Sioux Center, will also receive a of six-inch concrete overlay. That section will be open to local traffic only during the project.
