(KUOO Radio) — Authorities are investigating an apparent drowning on East Lake Okoboji.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the Okoboji Police Department received a report of a missing person on Thursday. Authorities were called to the walking docks at Edgewater Plaza in Okoboji a little after 5:30 pm Thursday after getting a report that someone walking in that area found a person in the water. The person was retrieved from the water and was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 76-year-old Marsha Bax of Johnston, Iowa.
Authorities say foul play is not suspected and that the incident remains under investigation.
The Dickinson County Medical Examiner, Okoboji Police Department, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire/Rescue, and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance assisted on the scene.
