Alton, Iowa — Emergency responders were dispatched Thursday evening to a residential structure fire in Alton. One individual was inside the home at the time of the fire and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control. Emergency personnel remain on scene to ensure safety and assist with the ongoing investigation.
The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office has been requested and will investigate the cause of the fire, with assistance from the Orange City Police Department.
Assisting agencies at the scene included Alton Ambulance, Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance, Orange City Police Department, and Sioux County Emergency Management.
