Winter storms hit Siouxland during the weekend threatening blizzard like conditions.
The weekend storms were forecast to snow up to 16 inches with wind blowing 40 to 50 mph creating near blizzard conditions. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls held a weather briefing Friday indicating a Winter Storm Watch was in effect from Saturday into Monday morning. Most of Sioux County ultimately received between 3-4.5 inches of snow.
There were a few accidents that happened due to conditions in Sioux County, though no one was killed or seriously hurt. Ryan de Kruyf, Sioux County Emergency Management Coordinator, lays out the accidents that occurred during the storm.
