Access Limited to Sibley-Ocheyedan Boys Locker Room Following Reported Incident

Officials with Sibley-Ocheyedan Community Schools have announced new restrictions on access to the boys’ locker room at Sibley-Ocheyedan High School following what the district describes as recent inappropriate behavior.

In a notice sent to district patrons, school officials say the boys’ locker room will be locked at all times, effective today, Monday, January 12th. As part of the changes, students will not dress out for physical education classes this week.

The notice states that student-athletes participating in morning weights and after-school practices will still be allowed to use the locker room. However, coaches will be required to be the first to enter and the last to leave.

According to the district, key card access to the locker room has been disabled for all high school and middle school students. Access to the weight room, however, will remain available.

School officials did not provide additional details regarding the incident, saying only that the changes are being implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
