18-Year-Old Luverne Woman Charged With Giving THC Products to Minor in an Orange City School Parking Lot

An 18-year-old from Luverne has been arrested on felony drug distribution charges following an alleged incident in Orange City.

According to a criminal complaint filed by local authorities, 18-year-old Jaycee Chapa of Luverne is accused of providing controlled substances to a minor on February 26.

Investigators say the alleged incident occurred in the parking lot of MOC-Floyd Valley High School. In a statement included in the complaint, an officer says Chapa had several vape devices and THC gummies.

Authorities allege Chapa provided THC products to a 15-year-old while the two were inside her vehicle in the school parking lot.

Chapa was arrested on Friday on a warrant and charged with distributing a drug near a school, a Class B felony under Iowa law. If convicted, the charge carries a possible sentence of up to 25 years in prison.

She also faces a charge of marijuana possession.

Court records indicate no court dates have yet been scheduled in the case.

Chapa was booked into the Sioux County Jail and was released later the same day after posting ten percent of a $25,000 bond.
