Sioux County Radio, Community First Broadcasting is hiring a News Director at our studio in Sioux Center! If you’re passionate about news gathering and delivery, we’d love to talk to you!

The full-time News Director is solely responsible for gathering local news, writing news stories, posting news reports to our website in a timely manner, and delivering multiple live and recorded newscasts daily. The News Director will also record up-to-date News Minutes for multiple stations as well as maintain and coordinate our Community Calendar. This position also involves Executive Producer duties for The Daily Grind program which include and are not limited to co-hosting when necessary, recording interviews, editing programs, and scheduling future guests.

As part of working as News Director, a keen awareness of community is required, which may include attending local city council meetings and assemblies. This position also includes the responsibilities of severe weather coverage in our broadcast area, to acquire weather warnings as issued by the National Weather Service, to deliver on-air immediate storm and safety instructions until the duration of such weather occurrence has depleted or issue is cancelled. Other duties as assigned, with respect to candidate’s training, or willingness to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Broadcast experience is preferred but not required. Training will be offered to the ideal applicant. A valid Iowa driver’s license is required, with driving record in good standing to operate radio station vehicles if necessary. Applicant must be able to carry broadcast equipment up to 20lbs.

DETAILS:
The position requires a variable 40-hour work week with base hours of 8am to 5pm daily, but will be adjusted for off campus meetings, live remote newscasts on location, or severe weather coverage.
