Southern IL farmer optimistic about wheat crop

A southern Illinois farmer says he’s cautiously optimistic about his wheat crop.

“Wheat is a crop that we don’t ever count until it’s in the bin and cross the scales.”

Matt Rush, who farms in Wayne County, tells Brownfield the stormy spring has had an impact.

“It looks good, except for we’ve had some pretty good storms and pretty good winds across the area.”  He says, “Wheat is starting to go down on the side of hills.
