Planting remains slower than usual in Wisconsin

Wet conditions remain a problem for Wisconsin farmers.

USDA’s latest weekly crop update says with fewer than three days suitable for fieldwork, corn planting is now nearly a week behind the five-year average at 87 percent.  Emergence is at 78 percent, and 69 percent of the crop is in good to excellent condition.

Soybeans are also 87 percent planted, one day off the usual pace.  Emergence is 75 percent, and 73 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.
