NPPC wants African Growth and Opportunity Act renewed

The National Pork Producers Council wants the African Growth and Opportunity Act renewed.

NPPC vice president of government affairs Maria Zieba says the trade agreement between the U.S. and eligible sub-Saharan African countries is up for renewal next year.

“Ten years ago we did negotiate market access as part of (the trade deal), specifically into South Africa, and that hasn’t quite materialized the way that we wanted it to. So we’re back and trying to make sure that AGOA has those enforcement mechanisms.”

She tells Brownfield Africa is an emerging market for U.S.
