Michigan assessing HPAI response needs

The director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is stressing the importance of biosecurity as a second farmworker in the state has been confirmed with H5N1 Influenza A.

Tim Boring says the virus evolving into an upper respiratory infection is concerning for public health.

“This is likely a multifactorial virus transmission pathway we have here,” he says. “We’ve reason to think that it moves around on people. It certainly moves around on trucks.
