Mexico dairy trade discussion exposes beef trade issue

Dairy groups are concerned new Country of Origin Labeling laws might impact future beef sales.  

Jaime Castenada, who handles dairy policy and strategy for the National Milk Producers Federation, recently met with Mexican dairy leaders.  “They do have some concerns about COOL (Country of Origin Labeling) you know, even though it’s not mandatory, it’s voluntary, and USDA is going to implement it. They’re concerned that actually this could be disruptime on trades.”

Castaneda says many Mexican cattle come across the border to Texas feedlots.
