Warm, drier conditions helped Kentucky farmers make significant planting progress this week.
Corn is 35 percent planted, and 15 percent has emerged. Soybeans are 22 percent planted. Tobacco transplants are 85 percent seeded and 87 percent rated good to excellent.
Winter wheat is 38 percent headed, with 91 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.
Pastures are rated 73 percent good to excellent. Warmer weather has also benefited forage growth.
