A biofuels expert says the EPA’s emergency waiver allowing sales of E15 fuel blends this summer provides certainty for retailers.
Jake Comer, vice president of market development for Growth Energy, says regulatory certainty was needed for locations that have made significant fuel infrastructure investments. “If you were to total up how much retailers have spent to offer E15 and E85, it’d be in the hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars.”
He tells Brownfield a permanent fix needs to be prioritized by Congress to help eliminate yearly emergency waivers.
