FSA deadlines quickly approaching

The administrator of USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Illinois reminds farmers to report their acres.

Scott Halpin says the deadline is June 15th.

“Next key deadline will be actually reporting those acres and what got planted.”  He says, “You know that further establishes your eligibility and what you could be eligible for here if the programs kick in.”

He tells Brownfield…

“Especially now there’s some electronic maps you have, and just knowing your acres.”  He says, “When you come in to sign up knowing what’s planted where and our staff is used to doing this, so they’ll pull up your maps and they’ll help you through the process.”

Halpin says farmers that finish planting after June 15th have fifteen calendar days to report their acres to FSA once complete.
