Ethanol production, stocks creep higher

U.S. ethanol production and stocks both bounced back a little last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1 million barrels a day, up 35,000 on the week and 13,000 on the year, with some plants ending seasonal maintenance ahead of the summer driving season.

Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development says operating margins for the average Iowa plant were in positive territory, just below the breakeven point.
