Corn planting underway in Kansas

Corn planting is starting to pick up steam across Kansas. The USDA says 4 percent of the crop is in, one percent ahead of last year. Winter wheat condition is rated 71 percent fair-to-good with 5 percent excellent. Topsoil moisture is 38 percent adequate to surplus, and subsoil moisture is 43 percent adequate to surplus.
