Corn planting all but finished in Nebraska

Corn and soybean planting has wrapped up for a northeast Nebraska farmer.

Greg Anderson says he navigated some planting delays last month. “I know I had a 15-day rain delay which is the longest I can ever remember.”

But the Newman Grove farmer tells Brownfield the wet spring helped improve his soil conditions. “We are thankful we’re out of the drought monitor,” he said. “We’ve had that hanging over our heads in various degrees for about two years.”

The USDA says as of Sunday 98% of corn in the state has been planted with 93% of the crop emerged.
