Bittersweet start to planting

A Michigan young farmer says this planting season will be a new beginning for his family.

Fourth-generation farmer John Bowsky tells Brownfield his father passed away last year after a long battle with cancer.

“The fall harvest last fall was flying solo for myself and the family, and then this is the first planting season as well taking on the lead as the main man.” “Unfortunately, I don’t have that guy always around to help.”

The 34-year-old says he’s thankful for the time he had to learn from his dad, and he wants to continue the farm’s legacy with his younger sisters.
