Beef industry data also important for exports

The executive vice president of the Illinois Beef Association (IBA) says the industry relies on data points to better predict future demand trends.

Josh St. Peters tells Brownfield the cancellation of USDA’s July Cattle Inventory report can impact the balance of trade.

“At the heart of risk management is having really good data to understand the marketplace,” he says, “what’s happening in the economy of our value chain.  We can’t do that without those reports and that ties into both our domestic market as well as our export markets.  Understanding what demand for beef looks like in our state, in this country, but also with our trade partners too.”
