Another higher move for broiler hatchery numbers

The USDA’s weekly broiler hatchery numbers continue to point to higher chicken numbers.

That’s in-line with the USDA’s most recent month-to-month increase in its 2024 broiler production projection.

244.779 million eggs entered incubation last week, down from the week before that, but up 1% on the year, with average hatchability continuing to hold at 79%.

189.898 million broiler-type chicks were placed into meat production, also a little bit lower than the previous week, but 2% above a year ago, with those birds heading to market by mid-summer.
