A drier weather pattern ahead for the Heartland, largely centered on the Corn Belt

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across the eastern half of the U.S., except in northern New England and the Deep South, while hotter-than-normal weather will dominate the West. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal rainfall across much of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions from the Pacific Northwest into the upper Midwest, as well as the middle Mississippi Valley.
