A cooler, drier weather pattern ahead for the Heartland, centered on the Corn Belt

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across the eastern half of the U.S., except in the Deep South, while warmer-than-normal weather will dominate the West. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal rainfall across much of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions from the Pacific Northwest into the upper Midwest.
