96% of Kansas corn, 78% of soybeans planted

Corn and soybean planting is near the finish line in Kansas.

The USDA says as of Sunday 96% of the state’s expected corn crop has been planted with 87% of the crop emerged.

Soybeans are 78% planted with 60% of the crop emerged.

The state’s sunflower crop is 46% planted, ahead of the five-year average of 41%.

The winter wheat harvest is 5% complete.
