39% of Kansas corn, 12% of soybeans planted

The USDA says favorable weather conditions helped Kansas producers move forward on their corn and soybean plantings last week.

As of Sunday, 39% of the state’s expected corn crop has been planted, ahead of the five-year average of 29%.

Soybeans planted was 12%, ahead of 6% on average.

Two percent of the state’s sorghum crop has been planted, near 1% last year.

Cotton planting was reported at 1% completion.
