A Sale barn in Rock Valley was destroyed by fire late Wednesday night. According to Rock Valley Fire Chief Brent Eshuis, the call came in shortly after 9pm. Eshuis says they encountered heavy fire and smoke when they arrived on the scene.
Eshuis says the 40 x 60 steel building housed offices and contained a semi-tractor, service truck, four-wheeler, along with miscellaneous shop items, all of which were destroyed. The damage doesn’t meet the threshold to call in the fire marshall, so the cause of the fire will officially be undetermined, but Eshuis says the building had security cameras which may show how the fire started.
Firefighters were on the scene for approximately three hours. Crews from Hull and Sioux Center assisted in putting out the fire. No injuries were reported. The entire structure and its contents are a total loss.
