Defender Occupy No. 4 Spot In National Ranking

The Dordt University men’s track and field team continues to hold down a top five ranking in the latest edition of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) poll released late last week.

One week prior to the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Marion, Ind., the Defenders are ranked fourth, a spot they have held for the last three polls. Dordt is, just over two points ahead of No.5 Marian (Ind.), the lone newcomer to the top five in this week’s rankings.

The top four teams remain unchanged for the second consecutive week, led by Southeastern (Fla.). The Fire won the NAIA Indoor National Championships in March. British Columbia is second , followed by Life (Ga.).

Dordt owns a top 10 ranking in four events heading into next week’s championship;

400m hurdles – 5th

Steeplechase – 5th

800m – 7th

5000m – 7th

18 Defenders will compete in 14 events at this week’s NAIA Outdoor Championships which will begin on Wednesday on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan.
