Raider softball up to No. 13 in NAIA coaches’ poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Northwestern softball team (29-2, 6-0 GPAC) has risen two spots to No. 13 in the most recent coaches’ poll from the NAIA, released by the national office Wednesday.

Northwestern is ranked nationally for the third-straight poll after receiving a No. 17 ranking in the poll released on March 8 and a No. 15 ranking on March 22.

Following a doubleheader sweep over Briar Cliff Tuesday night, Northwestern is 29-2 and is an undefeated 6-0 in conference action. The Raiders are currently on an 11-game winning streak and have the second-best winning percentage in the NAIA (.935).

The Raiders lead the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) in multiple categories, including runs (189), hits (275), RBI (173), walks drawn (116), stolen bases (83), batting average (.340), on base percentage (.422), and ERA (1.57).

The top-5 remains the same this week, as Oregon Tech leads the poll in the top spot. Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) is at No. 2, while Cumberlands (Ky.), Baker (Kan.), and Southern Oregon round out the top spots.

Consistent with the last edition of the coaches’ poll, Northwestern is the only GPAC team ranked in the top-25. Midland is receiving votes.

The Raiders will hit the road this weekend for a GPAC doubleheader with Concordia (Neb.) on Saturday and a non-conference tilt against (RV) Grand View on Monday.
