Carlson and Sterk NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After helping Northwestern to their 25th appearance in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) tournament, Red Raiders Dillon Carlson and Craig Sterk have received honorable mention accolades as the NAIA announced their All-American selections this afternoon.

“Craig and Dillon both had tremendous years for us,” noted head coach Kris Korver. “Dillon led us in scoring and he is one of the best shooters in the nation. Craig made his presence felt on both ends of the floor with his versatility and energy. We are excited that they will be coming back for another season!”

DILLON CARLSON; HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN

A first-year Red Raider, Carlson (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) led Northwestern in scoring average (19.8 ppg) and was the team’s leading scorer in 15 games. He earns his first NAIA All-American recognition.

Carlson was a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) First Team All-Conference selection this year and finished the season fifth in the conference in points per game. Additionally, he was second on the team in steals per game (1.2) and fourth in rebounds per game (3.8).

CRAIG STERK; HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN

Bringing energy in various roles for the Raiders this season, Sterk (Jr., McBain, Mich.) was the team’s leader in rebounds per game (8.1), blocks per game (1.7), and steals per game (1.4). He earns his first NAIA All-American recognition.

He entered into a starting role five games into the season and was a consistent performer for the Raiders, also posting seven double-doubles. In addition to this honorable mention accolade, Sterk was a First Team All-GPAC performer and a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

The Northwestern men’s basketball team finished with a record of 20-10 (13-7 GPAC). The Raiders earned the conference’s fourth seed and a berth in the NAIA tournament.
