Vis Claims CSC Academic All-American Honors

The College Sports Communicators have announced its Academic All-Americans for the 2022-23 season and Dordt’s Jacob Vis (Senior; Rock Valley, Iowa), has been voted to the first team.

Vis, a 2021-22 second-team selection for the honor, earned the accolades this season after posting a cumulative grade point average through seven semesters of 3.98 and he will graduate in May with a degree in Health & Human Performance: Exercise Science. Vis averaged 19.4 points per game with 7.6 rebounds to lead the Defenders this season and he accounted for 1.2 blocked shots per outing while making 65.9 percent of his field goal attempts. Vis will leave the program after scoring 1,305 career points (18th all-time), gathering 581 rebounds (17th all-time) and converting 62.8 percent of his field goals (3rd all-time). Vis’s 641 points this season ranks 4th all-time in program history.

“This is one of the most difficult honors to earn in the NAIA,” said Dordt’s Director of Athletic Communications Mike Byker. “The ballot included dozens of deserving individuals and Jacob’s resume rose to the top and warranted Academic All-America of the Year consideration as well.”

The two honor teams include five individuals each at the NAIA level. Vis also earned all-GPAC first team honors this season and helped the Defenders to a 26-7 record and their second straight berth in the NAIA National Championship field.
