Fryar Named to Top NAIA Defensive Unit

Northwestern football player Parker Fryar has been tabbed a First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.

A sophomore linebacker from Waukee, the GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year leads a Red Raider defense that finished in the top five in both total defense (222.8 yards allowed per game) and rush defense (59.8 rushing yards allowed per game). Fryar has 108 tackles on the season entering the national championship game.

Dordt senior offensive lineman Alex Huisman (Pella) earned second team AFCA honors on the squads announced Thursday morning.

Additionally for Northwestern, senior tight end Blake Anderson (Oakland, Neb.), senior offensive lineman Greg Will (Spirit Lake), and senior defensive back Jaden Snyder (Larchwood) earned honorable mention recognition by the NAIA.

Northwestern takes on Keiser University of Florida for the national championship on Saturday. Pregame from Durham, North Carolina begins at 10:00am Saturday with kickoff at 11:00am.
