Raiders climb to 6th in NAIA Volleyball coach top 25 poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Despite two tough five set losses to top-10 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) teams, the voters for the top-25 poll respect the day in and day out grind of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) as the Northwestern College volleyball team (18-6, 8-5 GPAC) slides up to No. 6 in the final regular season poll.

The Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon University (19-2, 13-1 CCC) remains the top-ranked team in the NAIA thanks to their 24-2 record. Four of the top-5 remains the same with Concordia (Neb.) sliding up into the No. 5 slot from No. 6 last poll. Jamestown holds onto No. 2 and Corban (Ore.) remains No. 3. Missouri Baptist dropped from No. 4 in the last poll, down to No. 17 in the final regular season installment.

The Red Raiders lay claim to five wins against teams ranked inside the top-25 in this installment, defeating now No. 7 Viterbo (Wis.) (3-0), No. 12 College of Saint Mary (3-0), No. 22 Dordt (3-2), and back inside the top-25 this week at No. 25 Ottawa (Kan.) (3-0).

To finish the regular season slate, Northwestern will face two more top-25 teams. Starting tonight inside the Bultman Center, it’ll be a top-10 clash (the eighth for the Raiders this season) as No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan comes to town. On Saturday, the Raiders will head to Sioux Center to battle rival and No. 22-ranked Dordt.

Seven GPAC teams continue to be ranked inside the top-25 in the final installment of the regular season poll. Three GPAC teams now find themselves in the top-5 this poll. Jamestown holds steady at No. 2, Midland slides up to No. 4, and Concordia (Neb.) makes an appearance at No. 5. Inside the top-10, Northwestern (No. 6) and Dakota Wesleyan (No. 9).

Dordt (12-5) slides down three more spots to No. 22 in this installment. The College of Saint Mary (16-4), slid up one spot to No. 12.
