One Person Hospitalized After Sunday Afternoon Accident

One man was sent to the hospital after two vehicles collided at an intersection three miles southwest of Maurice Sunday afternoon. The Sioux County Sheriff’s office investigated the accident at 480th St. and Garfield Ave. at around 2:10pm.
58-year-old Michael Johnson of Ireton was driving a Ford pick-up northbound on Garfield while 76-year-old Gene Bietelspacher of Le Mars was driving a Chevy pick-up eastbound on 480th. The collided in the intersection, injuring Johnson who was taken to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.
Johnson’s Ford received about $6,000 in damage and damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $5,000.
Beitelspacher was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.
