SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Senior golfer Brock Murphy was tabbed Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Siouxland Invitational last week.
For the second-straight week the Red Raiders are bringing home weekly men’s golf honors from the league office. Murphy (Tea, S.D.) shot his season-low round of 66 in the final round of the Siouxland Invite on Tuesday, September 13, which earned him a sixth-place individual finish – the highest finishing National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) golfer.
The round score marks his second lowest as a Red Raider, just one stroke behind his career-best 65 (-6) at the Siouxland Invite (Landsmeer Golf Club) back in 2019. That invite also marked his highest-individual finish of second-place.
Murphy led the Red Raiders in the three-round invite with a 212 (-3) on the tournament. The first two rounds were held at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center on Sept. 12, followed by the final 18 holes at Landsmeer on Sept. 13.
His sixth-place finish came from a field of 83 golfers, with multiple GPAC teams competing. He shot rounds of 72-74-66-212 (-3), and finished two strokes ahead of teammate Jackson Laven (So., Okoboji, Iowa) with a 214 (-1).
Murphy joins Ezra Meyer (Sept. 14) as the second Raider golfer to earn GPAC Golfer of the Week honors this season.
