Northwestern Women’s Basketball Releases 2022-23 Slate

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – After a 24-9 record and a trip to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament for head coach Kristin Rotert last season, she has announced the 2022-23 women’s basketball schedule.

The 2022-23 campaign is set to begin with a trip south into Kansas with two games against Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) foes in the first week of November. The Raiders will open up the season North Newton, Kan. against the Threshers of Bethel College on November 2. After a day off, the Raiders will complete the home-and-home series with Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan. on November 4.

“We’re excited to kick off the season with a trip to Kansas to face two tough KCAC schools on the road,” said Rotert.

The Red Raiders will return home the following week for the first time to play host to the annual Pizza Ranch Classic on Friday and Saturday, November 11-12. The Raiders will welcome Dickinson State (N.D.) and Trinity Christian (Ill.) to the Bultman Center for the classic.

Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) action commences on Saturday, November 19 when the Raiders hit the road for Omaha, Neb. to battle the College of Saint Mary Flames. Northwestern will be on the road for the first three league games, following CSM with trips to Doane and Midland on November 19 and 22, respectively.

“We’re looking forward to another challenging campaign,” noted Rotert. “Our six non-conference opponents will prepare us for another challenging year in the GPAC.”

Northwestern will have their GPAC home opener on November 30 when the Chargers of Briar Cliff University visit the Bultman Center with their first-year head coach Brian Ortmeier.

On Wednesday, December 7, the Raiders will make the 15-mile journey to Sioux Center to battle arch-rival the Defenders of Dordt University for a 6:00 p.m. tip.

Following another two-game road stint, the Raiders will open up a four-game GPAC homestand in December and January, split by the Christmas holiday break. In that span, NWC welcomes two NAIA national tournament teams from last season in Morningside (December 10) and Dakota Wesleyan (December 15).

The first half of the conference season concludes on January 11 with a trip to Yankton, S.D. for a clash with the Mount Marty Lancers.

Concluding the home slate of the regular season, Northwestern welcomes Sioux County rival and 2022 NAIA national runner-up Dordt University to the Bultman Center for a 6:00 p.m. clash on February 15.

The 2023 GPAC conference tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, February 22 as Rotert and company look to host a conference tournament game for the second straight year under Rotert’s leadership.
