ORANGE CITY, Iowa – After a successful 2021-22 campaign that saw Northwestern advance to the Opening Round of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament, head coach Kris Korver has announced the 2022-23 men’s basketball schedule.

This year’s schedule consists of an eight-game non-conference slate among the 20 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) dates.

Northwestern is entering its 23rd season with Korver at the helm, compiling a 502-201 record under the program’s winningest coach. Last season, the Raiders finished 21-11 (13-7, 3rd in GPAC).

"We're looking forward to another challenging campaign as we prepare for our 28-game schedule," said Korver of the upcoming season.

The Raiders will travel to North Dakota to tip off the season, facing Valley City State (N.D.) and Mayville State (N.D.) out of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) on October 28 and 29.

Next on the schedule will be the Pizza Ranch Classic, as Viterbo (Wis.) and Indiana University East will come to the Bultman Center on November 11 and 12.

The GPAC season will begin on the road on November 19 against Doane, before playing at Midland three days later.

Northwestern will finish the month of November at the Dordt Thanksgiving Classic against Governors State (Ill.) and Oak Hills Christian (Minn.), also hosting a home GPAC contest against Briar Cliff on November 30.

December will open at the defending GPAC tournament champion Concordia (Neb.) Bulldogs. In the next matchup, the Red Raiders will play Dordt in Sioux Center on December 7. Prior to Christmas break, Northwestern will host Morningside and Dakota Wesleyan before facing Dakota State (S.D.) and Bellevue (Neb.) at Bellevue.

The Raiders will ring in the New Year with a weekend series against Jamestown, whose roster boasts reigning GPAC Player of the Year Mason Walters, followed by Hastings. Both games will be played at the Bultman Center.

It will be a busy month of January as Northwestern will alternate home and away games with Mount Marty, Midland, Briar Cliff, Concordia, and Morningside before traveling to Jamestown in the final weekend of the month.

The final three weeks of the regular season will see the Raiders host Doane, Mount Marty, and Dordt while battling Dakota Wesleyan at the Corn Palace on February 8 and playing at Hastings on February 18.

The GPAC Quarterfinals is set to take place on February 22 with the Opening Round of the 85th NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship beginning on March 7.

"Every game will be a challenge, but we're looking forward to the opportunities in front of us," Korver commented.
