Two of the standouts from the Dordt University Women's Track and Field program, Mika Kooistra and Anmarie Stuit, have collected prestigious awards. The 2021-22 Academic All-America teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.

Kooistra, a 1st team honoree, and Stuit a 2nd team selection were named to the 2021-22 NAIA Academic All-America Team,

One of 11 athletes to be named to the first team, Kooistra is a nine-time NAIA All-American and has been part of two 4x800 relay teams that won national championships. Last season, Kooistra earned All-American recognition as part of the 4x400 and 4x800 relays during both the indoor and outdoor season. She anchored the Defenders 4x800 relay that won the national championship to conclude the 2022 indoor season. A native of Emo, Ontario, Kooistra is a three-time NAIA Scholar Athlete and is studying Biology / Environmental Science and Community Development.

Stuit is one of nine track and field / cross country women's athletes to receive second team accolades. Stuit is a 10x NAIA All-American and two-time NAIA national champion, winning the title as a member of the Defenders 4x800 relays (2021-Outdoor / 2022-Indoor). She earned All-American honors this past year in the 600m (indoor) and the 4x400 and 4x800 relays during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Stuit was a member of the Defenders 4x800 relay that won the NAIA Championship to cap the indoor season in March. Stuit, from Sheldon, Iowa, is a three-time NAIA Scholar Athlete who is studying Elementary Education and Early Childhood / Special Education.
