ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College and Vice President for Athletics Dr. Micah Parker has announced that Assistant Athletic Performance coach Maria Fruechte has been elevated to Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for Northwestern athletics.

“Maria has been a valuable member of our athletic department and is ready for this next step in her career,” notes Dr. Parker. “As the Senior Women administrator, she will serve on the athletic leadership team and help with general oversight. She helps the Raiders stand out!”

Fruechte joined Northwestern athletics in August of 2020 as a member of NWC’s athletic performance staff. She currently oversees athletic performance training of football, men’s and women’s soccer, wrestling, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s basketball.

"I look forward to having a role on the athletic leadership team and the opportunity to work closely with the student-athletes in a different capacity. I am excited to learn from colleagues on the leadership team, while growing as a leader,” said Fruechte. “I am appreciative to Dr. Parker for entrusting me with these additional responsibilities!”

Fruechte graduated from Winona State University (Minn.) in 2018 with a degree in Exercise Science and a Nutrition minor, while playing volleyball for the Warriors. In 2020, she earned her M.S. degree in Education Leadership and Sports Management, also from Winona State while serving as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant for the Warriors athletic department.
