ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Coming off the program’s second-ever Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) championship, head coach Dan Swier – entering his 15th season leading the program – has announced the 2022 Raider men’s soccer schedule.

The Raiders will open the campaign with a trip to the Pacific Northwest for two matches at the end of August against a couple of Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) foes. On Thursday, August 25 Northwestern will face Corban University (Ore.) who finished with an 11-6-1 record a season ago, and finished fourth in the CCC with a 9-4 mark. That Saturday, the Raiders will battle Northwest University (Wash.) on the pitch, who compiled a 10-7-2 mark in 2021.

This year’s Northwestern/Pizza Ranch Classic will feature foes from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) on September 2-3.

Northwestern will begin the classic against the Braves of Ottawa University (Kan.). The Braves went 5-11-2 last season, finishing in the bottom half of the KCAC (4-8 KCAC). The following day, the Raiders will clash against the Trinity Christian College (TCC) Trolls. TCC went 6-11-1 in 2021, also finishing in the bottom half of their league (4-8-1 CCAC).

Northwestern will round out non-conference action against a pair of Nebraska institutions on September 14 and 17. On September 14, the Bellevue Bruins come to Orange City and the NWC Soccer Complex. The Bruins, an independent men’s soccer program, went 16-3-2 last season and earned a berth to the NAIA national tournament, before falling in the first round 2-1 to No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene.

The final non-conference match will see the Raiders travel to York, Neb. to face the second KCAC foe of the season in the York College Panthers. The Panthers finished fifth in the KCAC in 2021, holding a 9-9-1 (7-4-1 KCAC) record.

The defending league co-champions will open GPAC play on September 17 as they head to Sioux City to do battle with defending co-champions of Briar Cliff. They’ll return to Sioux City that Saturday to battle the Morningside Mustangs on September 21.

The rest of the GPAC schedule continues on Wednesdays and Saturdays through October. The final regular season game will be on Saturday, October 29 when the Tigers of Doane University come to town.
