Multiple Injuries in Sunday Crash Near Sheldon

Multiple injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash Sunday near Sheldon.  The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Justin Van Grootheest of Sioux Center was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Northwest Boulevard.  Forty-year-old Evan Anema of Sioux Falls was driving westbound on 280th St. in a 2011 GMC Yukon, and was stopped at a stop sign.  Anema proceeded into the intersection and into the path of Van Grootheest where the two struck.

 

Justin Van Grootheest and a passenger, 27-year-old Megan Van Grootheest, and two children in the vehicle were injured in the collision.  Evan Anema and a passenger, 41-year-old Heather Anema, and four children in their vehicle were injured as well.  All the injured were taken to the Sheldon hospital where the injuries were said to be minor with the exception of Heather Anema whose injuries were said to possibly be serious.

 

Evan Anema was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
