Reitz named Raider assistant volleyball coach

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College head volleyball coach Kyle Van Den Bosch has announced the hiring of former Raider volleyball standout Lacey Reitz as the program’s new assistant volleyball coach.
“We are excited to add Lacey to our coaching staff. Obviously being a former player in our program she knows our culture so well,” notes Van Den Bosch. “Lacey has a great mind for the game, sees the game at a high level already, and is a great student of the game.”
The three-year American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American, Reitz tallied over 5,000 assists in her storied Raider career. She sits second in program history in career assists as one of only two Raiders in program history to achieve the 5,000-assist mark in their careers.
“The culture and presence of the Holy Spirit is what makes Northwestern special. Every person you encounter will push you to be better, and every day your relationship with God grows stronger,” said Reitz. “I can’t wait to use my passion for both volleyball and Jesus Christ to help young women grow in their faith and prepare them for the lives that God has called them to live.”
Reitz was a four-year setter on the Raider volleyball team and was a part of a program that started the current five-year run to the NAIA final site. Of her four seasons in a Raider uniform, the Raiders put together an impressive record of 110-22 for a winning percentage .833, while also boasting two Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) championships.
“When she was a player, she was always looking for ways to improve her game,” said Van Den Bosch. “I know she will take that mindset to help each of our current and future players be the best they can be both on and off the court.”
Her efforts in the classroom were also recognized, as Reitz was a two-time College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-American (2019, 2020), including a spot on the coveted First Team her senior season in 2020.
Reitz’s favorite Bible verse come is Romans 5:1-5. She notes, “This is my favorite passage because it explains the importance of hope in our God. No matter the circumstance, good or bad, we can have confidence in our hope in God that he will provide peace, growth, and love.”
The Jackson, Minn. native graduated from Northwestern in 2021 with a degree in physical education. Reitz and her husband, Austin, reside in Orange City, Iowa. Austin also graduated from Northwestern and serves as an assistant coach with the Raider men’s golf program.
