Brooklyn Leusink, a senior at MOC FV High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.

“Our program watched Brooklyn in her sophomore year as she attended our summer camps and demonstrated a great work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to be coachable on the court. Through the recruiting process, we further learned of her desires to grow in her faith in Christ while pursuing a high level of academic and athletic success. We would like to thank high school coach Kate Boersma and club coaches Emma and Addison Mertler for their development of Brooklyn’s abilities. Brooklyn has had a wonderful career and she will be a great ambassador of The Defender Way,” said former Dordt women’s volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Leusink is a 5-11 middle blocker/right side attacker and has totaled over 500 kills during her career. She averaged 2.6 kills per set this season with a .236 kill efficiency and she averaged 2.3 kills per set in 2020 with a .264 kill efficiency. Leusink earned first-team all-conference honors in 2021 and third-team notice in 2020 as MOC FV won the Siouxland Conference title.

“I chose Dordt because I love the atmosphere and how welcoming everyone is. I was able to get out of my hometown, but close enough to still be a part of my community. I believe Dordt will not only challenge me as a student-athlete but also will help me grow in my faith. I look forward to playing volleyball at a high level with a great group of girls,” said Leusink.

Brooklyn is the daughter of Greg and Jenn Leusink of Orange City, Iowa. She plans to study business and marketing.
