Sibley man identified as victim in fatal Sioux City accident

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Police have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle accident Monday morning in Sioux City.

Sioux City Police say 43-year-old Ryan Palmer of Sibley, Iowa was the victim of the accident in the 2400 block of 18th Street. The accident happened at about 8 a.m. when the commercial vehicle Palmer was driving veered off the road and into a group of trees. Palmer was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness reported to police the vehicle was traveling westbound on 18th Street when it crossed the center line and left the roadway. It doesn't appear Palmer made an attempt to stop the vehicle or steer back onto the road.

Investigators are still waiting for a report from the medical examiner to determine if there were any medical issues or substances that contributed to the accident.

In an earlier press release, Sioux City Police said the accident happened in the 2800 block of 18th Street, that information has been updated.
