Jimmies Picked for GPAC Volleyball Crown

The University of Jamestown has been named the favorite to win the GPAC volleyball championship this fall. The Jimmies tallied 115 points and garnered six of the twelve first place votes in the 2021 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Preseason Coaches’ Volleyball Poll. Jamestown was the GPAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion in 2020 with a record of 15-1 and a 30-2 overall record.

Midland, the NAIA Runner-up last year, was picked second in the poll with 111 points and the other six first place votes. Dordt was picked third with 100 points, while Concordia came in fourth with 89 just 2 points ahead of fifth place Northwestern. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the preseason poll.

The 2021 GPAC volleyball season will consist of 16 conference matches with 12 teams competing for the conference crown. Dordt begins the season August 25th at Morningside before heading to Caldwell, Idaho for four matches including Eastern Oregon which finished 7th in the final NAIA poll last season. Northwestern begins the 2021 season at the Charger Invite in Sioux City August 27-28 against Waldorf on the 27th and Clarke along with host Briar Cliff on the 28th.
