Iowa Baseball Coaches Annouce All-State Teams; Harpenau 1A Co-Captain

Remsen St. Mary's pitcher Blake Harpenau has been named co-captain of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 1A All-State team. The senior posted a 13-0 record and sported a 0.62 ERA while helping the Hawks to the state semi-finals. He shared the captain honor with Cy Patterson of Council Bluffs St. Albert. Harpenau was joined on the first team by teammate and second baseman Levi Waldschmitt while Remsen St. Mary's Carter Schorg made the second team as a utility player.

Two Unity Christian players have been named Class 2A all-state by the Coaches Association. Senior third baseman Clayton Bosma wound up on the second team after hitting at a .449 clip with 28 RBI. Senior pitcher Tanner Schouten earned third team honors with a 2.28 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 64 1/3 innings. Also from the area in Class 2A, West Lyon pitcher Zach Van Beek made the second team while teammate Jackson Kramer is in the third team outfield. Other third teamers include Estherville-Lincoln Central pitcher Will Larson, Hinton first baseman Easton Stusse and Spirit Lake outfielder Michael Stein.

Two Sioux County players captured Class 3A third team honors from the coaches. MOC-Floyd Valley senior pitcher Colton Korver helped the Dutchman to the state tournament with a 2.48 ERA with 73 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley senior outfielder Alex Godfredsen scorched opponents with a .552 batting average and .983 slugging percentage. Storm Lake had catcher Ben Raveling and utility player Mark Eddie on the second team and outfielder Carter Arens of LeMars made the third team in Class 3A.
