City Officials Tour New Fire Station
July 20, 2021 3:38pm
The Sioux Center City Council, and other officials toured the newly constructed Fire Station #2 on Highway 75 near the intersection of 16th St. South. Fire Chief Dave Van Holland led the tour showing officials different highlights and unseen details.
Features of the new station include the bay area with fill stations for the truck tanks at both the front and back of the area, and the museum room, visible from the roadway, that will eventually display the old fire truck and fire memorabilia. Other features include the locker room which will hold gear for 28 personnel, and three underground holding tanks that collect rainwater used to wash the trucks in the wash bay.
The original bid for the building was $1.23 million, but with construction at about 95% complete, City Manager Scott Wynja says actual cost will be around $1.3 million.
