Two people were arrested Sunday after a vehicle, then foot pursuit in Plymouth County.
The Plymouth Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to stop a speeding vehicle traveling northbound near the intersection of K-22 and Lone Tree Road Sunday. Authorities say the vehicle was exceeding speeds of 100 mph. The pursuit continued north on K-22 until it turned on Highway 3 heading towards Akron.
At the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 12 in Akron, the subjects lost control of the vehicle and struck the railroad tracks on the west side of the intersection, coming to a stop.
The driver, later identified as 52-year-old Shawn Denney of Sioux City, exited the vehicle and a short foot pursuit ensued. Denney was taken into custody a short time later.
The passenger, identified as 40-year-old Nelitta R. Taylor of Ireton, remained in the car and was detained.
Both Denney and Taylor were taken to a hospital in Hawarden. After being treated, they were placed under arrest and transported to the Plymouth County Jail.
