Driver Identified in Semi vs Train Accident Near Le Mars

Authorities have identified the semi driver who was sent to the hospital Thursday after his vehicle collided with a train.
The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office says the driver has been identified as 74-year-old Raymond Burch of Larrabee, Iowa.
The sheriff's office says the accident was reported around 1:10 p.m. west of Le Mars, on Iowa Highway 3. Officials say a semi traveling eastbound on the highway struck the side of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.
Burch was flown to a Sioux City hospital for treatment of serious injuries he sustained in the accident. No additional information is being released at this time.
The accident closed Highway 3 in both directions for several hours.
